Frater Phil Kaser Enters Chapter Eternal

Friends and Fraters,

It is with a sad heart that I share with you the following news. On Friday, August 8, 2014 Philip Kaser, E1000, Philpassed away at the age of 62 in Des Moines, IA. Phil devoted his life to  the TKE ideals of charity, love, and esteem.

Phil bled cherry and grey. Along with his three brothers, Michael, Peter, and Jon, Phil joined TKE in 1969. Their father, Don, was a Grand Prytanis and their grandfather, Elmer, was a founding member of Epsilon Chapter.

Phil’s charity was rooted in two of his favorite activities (other than a good beer). His love of rugby began at Iowa State. He went on to be a life long supporter and philanthropist of the Des Moines Rugby club as a player, administrator, booster, and coach. Phil also administered and coached softball at Raccoon Valley Little League; his charity to that program is so well remembered that a field will be named for him.

No one who met Phil could walk away without either an epic adventure or an epic story. Good for a laugh, good for a beer, and good for his fraternity was Phil. His quirky humor and contributions shall never be forgotten.

On Monday, August 11 a visitation will be held at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 4114 Allison Ave, Des Moines, from 4 to 7 pm. On Tuesday, August 12, funeral services will be held at the same location at 10:30 with a luncheon to follow.
